Community Guidelines

Last updated July 27, 2026

Their Handprint exists so families can remember their child and let others add to that memory. These guidelines keep this a place parents can trust. They apply to page owners, to anyone submitting a memory, and to anyone contacting a family through the site.

What is welcome

  • Memories of the child: something they said, something they loved, a moment you shared.
  • Photos you have the right to share, where the child or your own family is the focus.
  • Short messages of support addressed to the family.
  • Ways the child changed you, or something you still do because of them.

Write the way you would speak to the family in person. Using the child's name is welcome.

What is not allowed

  • Harassment, insults, or hostility toward the family or anyone else.
  • Blame, judgment, or speculation about how the child died.
  • Graphic descriptions or images of injury, death, or medical detail.
  • Identifying details about other people's children, or photos of other children without permission from their parent.
  • Fundraising, sales, promotion, or recruiting of any kind, including linking to donation drives we have not approved.
  • Religious or political pressure directed at a family who did not invite it.
  • Impersonating the family or claiming a relationship you do not have.
  • Contact information, addresses, or anything that would let a stranger find the family.
  • Content that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else's copyright.

Parents decide

Nothing submitted to a page appears publicly until the parent who owns that page approves it. Parents can approve, decline, hide, or remove any submission at any time, without giving a reason. A declined memory is not a judgment of the person who wrote it.

Reporting content

Every page has a way to report content to our staff. Use it if you see something that breaks these guidelines, if a page appears to have been created by someone without the right to create it, or if you are the parent and want a page taken down.

Reports go to The Orange Glow Project staff, not to the family. We review reports as quickly as we can and prioritize anything involving a safety concern or a page created without a parent's consent.

What our staff can do

  • Remove an individual memory, message, or photo.
  • Unpublish a page while we look into a report.
  • Restore a page after a report is resolved.
  • Remove an account that repeatedly breaks these guidelines.
  • Contact law enforcement if someone appears to be in danger.

If you are in crisis

The Orange Glow Project is not a crisis service and no one monitors this site around the clock. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. In the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at any hour.

These are the policies of The Orange Glow Project. They describe how this website and the Their Handprint feature actually work today and may be updated as the organization grows.
